Cookie & Local Storage Policy
Effective Date: 2026. AUG. 19.
1. Introduction
Typen uses a limited amount of cookies and browser storage to provide account functionality, remember preferences, recover editor drafts, remember consent choices, and provide analytics where applicable.
2. Authentication
__Host-Token
Used to:
- keep users logged in;
- authenticate requests;
- protect account access.
This is necessary for logged-in account functionality.
Removing it may sign you out.
3. Language
locale
Stores the language selected for the application.
This prevents users from having to select their preferred language repeatedly.
4. Theme
Browser storage may remember whether you use:
- light;
- dark;
- system appearance.
5. Editor Drafts
post-editor-draft:{id}
Stores an unfinished post draft locally in the browser.
This helps recover content after an accidental refresh, browser crash, or interruption.
Local editor recovery data stays on the user's device until submitted, removed, or cleared.
6. Consent Preference
Typen stores information necessary to remember analytics or cookie choices.
This helps:
- remember consent;
- avoid repeatedly showing the consent prompt;
- apply your selected settings.
Cookie Settings can be reopened to change your choice.
7. Umami Analytics
The main Typen site/dashboard may use Umami Cloud.
Where our implementation requires analytics consent, Umami is loaded only after consent.
Users may withdraw consent through Cookie Settings.
8. Built-In Blog Analytics Identifier
Individual public blogs may use a random browser identifier to distinguish repeat visits for aggregate analytics.
The identifier:
- is random;
- is different for different blogs;
- does not contain your email;
- is not your account ID;
- does not contain your raw IP address;
- is not shown to the blog owner as an identifiable visitor.
The browser identifier may remain until it is deleted from browser storage.
Associated analytics records are generally deleted after 90 days.
Where applicable law requires consent before storing or accessing this analytics identifier, Typen will use the applicable consent mechanism.
9. Clearing Browser Storage
Users can remove cookies and local storage using browser settings.
Doing so may:
- sign you out;
- reset language settings;
- reset theme preferences;
- delete local post drafts;
- reset consent choices;
- reset anonymous analytics identifiers.
10. Blog Owner Tracking
Blog owners cannot normally inject arbitrary analytics scripts such as:
- Google Analytics;
- Umami;
- Plausible;
- custom JavaScript trackers.
Analytics are provided through Typen's built-in systems.
11. Changes
This policy may be updated when browser-storage practices change.
Where materially different non-essential tracking is introduced, applicable consent requirements will be respected.
